Partial dentures are removable dentures that are most often used to replace multiple missing teeth. They incorporate features that use a patient’s remaining, healthy teeth, for stability and support. They can have many designs, but typically have some type of thin, metal framework which provides rigidity and strength, with artificial teeth set in pink acrylic to imitate gum tissue in visible areas.
Because they are able to secure their frameworks against natural teeth, removable partial dentures are often very secure, well-fitting prostheses. They also offer the advantage of replacing multiple teeth in an affordable, esthetic manner.
